We're Finally On Our Way!!!

Sitting here watching the sky change from black to beautiful reds, oranges, golds and blue. Just got our first breakfast - a warm blueberry muffin. Ok muffin gone. Still waiting for a drink. It's 1:25am at home; 6:25am in London. We're almost there!!!!!

It was an interesting start to the trip. Fran picked us up and gave us a ride to the airport (Thankyou, Fran!). We got there around 1:45. We were all checked in and at our gate with about 1-1/2 hrs to spare. The place was empty. No lines at security or anywhere else. The flight was scheduled to leave at 3:40. While we were waiting the sky got dark, we could hear the rumblings of thunder and saw a number of lightening strikes. Even with that we were on time, for now. We had boarded and waiting to taxi when the lady sitting in front of us noticed a leak. She was in the emergency exit row. The door was leaking. Houston we've got a problem. After waiting 20 minutes or so for a mechanic to come look at it, they decided we'd be better off in another plane. So off we go, grabbing all our stuff and deboarding. We hauled everything to another gate to hurry up and wait. It's now 4:00 and not much is happening other than the weather. Then it's 4:30 and we're still sitting around waiting for the new plane. They're starting to rebook people who have connecting flights in Charlotte. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6:55. We were starting to get a bit concerned. Finally by 5:10 we were in the air and back on the ground again by 6:00. Very thankful we made our connecting flight.

Let me tell you, THIS is a real plane!! We even have TVs on the back of the seat in front of us. We can watch free movies, tv shows, listen to music, etc. Pretty cool way to help pass the time. The drawback is that they are touch screens and boy you can tell they aren't Apples!! Anyway, I ended up watching "Heaven is for Real" and "The Other Woman" which were both pretty good. I tried to doze but didn't get anywhere. Oh well I expected as much. We'll be landing soon and new experiences await!

A funny ... Guy in front of us was trying to turn off his light ... There's a button at the bottom of the tv screen for the light. LOL he didn't know this and was trying everything but that to turn off his light. He was trying to unscrew it, screw it, tap it, LOL I thought we were gonna bust a gut. In the end I took pity on him, tapped him on the shoulder and told him how to turn it off. I got a smile and thumbs up.

The sun is up and bright now. 😄😄😄 I guess this is it for Day 1!!

Cheerio!!
